In 1982, Willis Everett purchased a tract of land along the Flint River.
His intent was to build the perfect retreat using the finest quality wood
available. After collecting only the best varieties of wood to incorporate into the retreat, he
quickly realized that heartpine was, for its beauty and strength, the superior material.
He also discovered, only a few suppliers of heartpine existed, and even
fewer who understood its unique characteristics. To resolve this, Mr. Everett began
studying and purchasing his own heartpine and other antique
lumber. During the construction of his home, Mr. Everett trained his own crew to search sites
throughout the Southeast for heartpine. They would then dismantle, grade, ship, and store
the materials.
In 1990, equipped with a
warehouse of high grade material, a network of resources and an encyclopedic knowledge of
heartpine, Vintage Lumber Sales was born. In the years since, Vintage Lumber Sales has become one
of the country's best suppliers of heartpine and old growth cypress.
